ALL-DIGITAL DOPPLER RADAR

This solid-state, Doppler-enabled radar combines robust weather avoidance technology with work-saving automation to give you clear and timely input for highly accurate storm cell detection and interpretation.

AUTOMATIC THREAT ANALYSIS

Forget tedious, time-consuming manual adjustments. With the StormOptix volumetric auto-scan function, the radar automatically performs multiple scan/sweep angles to better profile the size and shape of hazardous storm cell activity. Just set the range, and the radar does the rest.

ADVANCED PREDICTION TOOLS

As standard capability, the radar will help predict lightning and hail development in storm cells ahead — as well as detect and provide alerting for potentially hazardous turbulence. Predictive Windshear alerting is also available as an option¹.

GROUND CLUTTER FILTERING

Enhanced ground clutter suppression technology applies advanced algorithms in conjunction with an onboard terrain database to eliminate nonweather returns from the display for a more consistent, more accurate view of weather at all altitudes and all ranges when in manual mode.

WEATHER ATTENUATED COLOR HIGHLIGHT (WATCH^®) TECHNOLOGY

WATCH technology helps identify the shadowing effects of intense or widespread short-range cell activity — highlighting areas where radar signals are weakened or attenuated — and may not reflect the “storm behind the storm.”

ZERO BLIND RANGE

A motion-compensated map allows for the display of weather information up to the nose of the aircraft.

LOW POWER CONSUMPTION

With its all-digital design, the GWX 8000 radar system offers low power consumption and typically longer service life, compared to previous generations of magnetron-based radars.

EASY-FIT ANTENNAS

The radar’s compact all-in-one antenna/receiver/transmitter unit saves space and simplifies installation. It’s available with a 10”, 12”, or 14” antenna array, so it can easily adapt to a wide range of aircraft radomes.

READY FOR RETROFIT

GWX 8000 is compatible with G1000^® NXi, G3000^® and G5000^® flight decks². It is also available for retrofit on approved aircraft equipped with a GTN^™ Xi navigator or TXi flight display.

UPGRADE YOUR GWX^™ 75 WEATHER RADAR

Those with GWX 75 only need to purchase a software enablement to upgrade their radar to GWX 8000 StormOptix, including auto mode².
